QUESTION: Who is required to have a Connecticut Electrician license?
ANSWER: The Connecticut State Department of Consumer Protection must license any individual who is engaged in the electrical contracting business or is performing work as an Electrical Journeyperson or an Electrical Contractor.
QUESTION: What are the qualifications required for taking the Connecticut Electrical exam?
E-1 Unlimited Electrical Contractor: The requirements to qualify for this license exam shall be two (2) years as an unlimited licensed journeyperson or at least six (6) years of equivalent experience and training.
E-2 Unlimited Electrical Journeyperson: The requirement to qualify for this license exam shall be the completion of a registered apprenticeship program or at least four (4) years of equivalent experience and training.
QUESTION: Is there reciprocity in Connecticut for the electrician exams?
ANSWER: Connecticut does not have reciprocal agreements with any other jurisdiction.
QUESTION: How do I sign up for the Connecticut Electrician exam?
ANSWER: Mail the original application, application fee, and any required documents to PSI licensure: certification (PSI). Once you have met the requirements, you will be issued an Examination Eligibility postcard with instructions for paying and scheduling for the examination(s).

QUESTION: Are there any accommodations for the Connecticut Electrician exams?
ANSWER: All PSI examination centers are equipped to provide access in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, and exam accommodations will be made in meeting a candidate’s needs. QUESTION: How many questions and how long are the Connecticut Electrician licensing exams?
E-1 Unlimited Electrical Contractor: Consists of 100 multiple-choice questions. Test takers have 4 hours to complete the exam. The exam is open-book with authorized materials and computer-based.
E-2 Unlimited Electrical Journeyperson: Consists of 80 multiple-choice questions. Test takers have 3.5 hours to complete the exam. The exam is open-book with authorized materials and computer-based.
QUESTION: What can I bring to the PSI testing center?
ANSWER:

QUESTION: Why should someone study this course if the Connecticut electrician license exam is an open-book test?
ANSWER: The electrical licensing exam is a very challenging test and usually requires a month or more of preparation to pass.
The 2020 NEC is a large and complex publication containing over 800 pages of code. It is challenging to locate each correct article and answer in the time allowed during the exam without thorough preparation.
