VIRGINIA JOURNEYMAN / MASTER ELECTRICIAN LICENSE
Applicants for the Master Electrician license must demonstrate either one year of practical experience as a licensed journeyman in the trade, or ten years of practical experience in the trade verified by individuals who observed the applicant’s work in the trade.

QUESTION: How do I sign up for the exam?
ANSWER: You must fill out and submit the Board for Contractors TRADESMAN EXAM & LICENSE APPLICATION form to the Virginia Construction Industries Board to be approved to take the exam.
The exam is administered by a third-party testing center, PSI. You can contact PSI with any questions at (800) 733-9267 Hours of operation are 9 am to 5 pm Mon-Fri, (Pacific Time)
QUESTION: How long is the exam?
ANSWER: The Journeyman Electrician exam consists of 70 multiple-choice questions. Test takers have 210 minutes to complete the exam and must correctly answer no less than 49 questions to pass. The exam is open-book with authorized materials and is computer-based.
