QUESTION: Who is required to have a Nevada Electrician license?
ANSWER: The Nevada Electrical Safety Professionals must license any individual engaged in the electrical contracting business or performing work as a Master, Journeyman, or Residential Electrician.
QUESTION: What are the qualifications required for taking the Nevada Electrician exam?
- NEW Nevada Electrical Qualifications Card: will need to provide the following:
- (1) a minimum of 2,000 hours of electrical work experience or electrical apprenticeship program hours and
- (2) the Pass Letter received from the International Code Council (“ICC”).
- A card will be issued when both of these requirements are met.
QUESTION: Is there reciprocity in Nevada for the Electrician exams?
ANSWER: Not at this time.
QUESTION: How do I sign up for the Nevada Electrician exam?
ANSWER: You may schedule an examination online at PearsonVUE. Follow the directions under “Contractor/Trade Licensing.” You may also schedule an examination over the phone by contacting Pearson VUE at 1-877- 234-6082, following the scheduling procedures listed in this bulletin.
QUESTION: Are there any accommodations for the Nevada Electrician exams?
ANSWER: What if I need testing accommodations? If you have a disability that prohibits you from taking the examination under standard conditions, you may request special arrangements.

QUESTION: How many questions and how long are the Nevada Electrician licensing exams?
T16- Master Electrician: consists of 100 multiple-choice questions. Test takers have 5 hours to complete the exam. The exam is open-book with authorized materials and computer-based.
T17- Journeyman Electrician: consists of 80 multiple-choice questions. Test takers have 4 hours to complete the exam. The exam is open-book with authorized materials and computer-based.
T18- Residential Electrician: consists of 60 multiple-choice questions. Test takers have 3 hours to complete the exam. The exam is open-book with authorized materials and computer-based.
QUESTION: What can I bring to the PearsonVUE testing center?

QUESTION: Where do I go to take my Nevada Electrician license exams?
ANSWER: Pearson VUE – Traditional, computer-based testing occurs at test sites administered by Pearson VUE frequently at over 350 sites across the nation. To locate test sites in your area, visit the Pearson VUE website for an updated listing of sites. Be aware that test sites are subject to change.
QUESTION: Why should someone study this course if the Nevada electrician license exam is an open-book test?
ANSWER: The electrical licensing exam is a very challenging test and usually requires a month or more of preparation to pass.
The 2020 NEC is a large and complex publication containing over 800 pages of code. It is challenging to locate each correct article and answer in the time allowed during the exam without thorough preparation.
