QUESTION: How much experience is required by the State of Alabama to become a licensed Journeyman Electrician?

ANSWER: An applicant must prove a minimum of 8,000 hours of experience that shows necessary qualifications like training and technical knowledge to install electrical wiring, apparatus or equipment lighting, heating, or power. Also, work shall be performed according to plans and specifications furnished and in accordance with standard rules and regulations governing such work.

QUESTION: How do I sign up for an Electrical Contractor or Journeyman Electrical License exam?

ANSWER: All candidates must fill out and submit an Electrical Contractors, or Journeyman Electrical License application form to the Alabama Electrical Contractors Board for approval to sit the exam. Applications are processed quarterly, and exams must be taken within 90 days of final approval.

QUESTION: What content is included in the exam, how many questions are there, and how much time do I have to complete it?
